Infinity #1, Grasping the Concept
Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. Psalm 71:18
I’ve been putting together material for dealing with the concept of infinity. There are so many facets to consider: God, humanity, and the rest of creation. The magnitude had the effect of freezing me into inaction. Last night the thought came to me that I just needed to get started and the best way might be on this blog. So, I will just deal with a little here and a little there, which if this blog went on to infinity would never end.
First, one needs to try and grasp infinity. That is really hard as we perpetually deal with the finite. That’s where a recursive algorithm like the Mandelbrot can be so enlightening. It can give you an infinite visual perspective. I found a great free Mandelbrot program that I’ve been using. I consider it a safe download as I’ve never detected any kind of problem with my computers. The download page says it is for: “Windows XP, Windows Vista”, but I am using it on Windows 10 and it works fine. You can get the download here: Mandelbrot Generator
I suggest you just play around with it where you will get neat pictures like these:
The program will let you do lots, including a running zoom that takes you to the various pictures.
I will cover more later, but if you are ready to grapple with infinity, then think about this:
We were created finite infinite while God is infinitely infinite. To help in this concept realize that our infinity cannot ever grasp all of God’s infinity while God can completely grasp every infinity.
Till next time, God bless.
